What do you have all the settings set to? max boost/ max egt/ etc? what yr truck is it? does it have an HX or HY turbo? maybe you have an intake leak somewhere, causing the black smoke.
Need more info to help ya.

try going into the set-up of the module and check to see what the perameters are set at. In each level (1-5) there is setting for throttle response. When I set them all to "most responsive" i get a pile of smoke coming out but it gets up and goes a lot better

Try leaving the Backdown setting up on the monitor, that way you will know if the truck is de-fueling. as far as I know the Comp and Juice are the same performance wise.

Not that long ago I mistakenly lowered my max boost setting to zero, and I smoked like crazy and could barely keep up with a stock 3rd gen truck, I was convinced my chip was faulty, after checking thru all the menues I found my mistake. also you can call Edge for help they have excellent customer service, and if your units bad I'm certain they will make it right
