Edge Ez Install

This is my first post, so please excuse my ignorance if I let some show. Ihave just purchased an Edge Ez for my '99 manual and read through the instructions. I thought I read somewhere that it was important to disconnect the batteries before installing "the box". Nothing about this in the instructions though. What gives?

Re:Edge Ez Install

Not sure about that but, you could always just go ahead and disconect the battery. It won't hurt anything.

Re:Edge Ez Install

I've had mine on and off 3 or 4 times without pulling the battery cables. Nothing gone wrong yet.

Re:Edge Ez Install

If you dont disconnect your battery, you are risking blowing a fuse, but other than that, I dont think it will cause any major problems. i would still recommend doing it any ways.

Thanks all. Pretty funny. I guess I did so much reading about these boxes and such that I eventually just confused myself. Great site, lots of good info!

Didn't disconnect batteries at first install. I take mine off every time I go to the dealer. Have never disconnected the batteries yet, and never had a problem. :

It's probably to make sure you don't "key on" with the unit patially connected.

That would set a code in the computer.

bigfish:

Just a tip: I had a heck of a time getting the unit plugged into the MAP sensor port on my '99 as I'm not very tall (5'9&quot. I ended up laying right across the valve cover (with the engine cool!) from the front of the truck with my head toward the firewall, and reaching around the fuel filter can with my right hand. Much easier than trying to do it over the fender. I hope that this helps.
