edge drag comp???
the XZT is the one i was thinki about, either that or the power puck, i dont think the puck is adjustable, i could be wrong. is there any other chips(not programers) that have about a 50hp or so range that dont have a wire tap?

Buy the comp, don't tap the wire until you are ready. If it is already on the truck, why mess around. You will pay more for another box, and not get as much gain as you will with the comp. You will thank us later.
Our Xzillaraider modules require you to tap the pump wire. That includes the 50hp XZT.
If you do not want to tap the pump wire look at the Edge EZ, or Van Aaken.
Now, I think that the tapping the wire problem is more of a tuning and load issue on the VP44. We tested our new modules on trucks with factory stock pumps with as many as 150K on them without killing them.
For everyday driving we are MUCH nicer to the pump than any other pump type box. Matter of fact you can set it on high and still use cruise control! That is something none of the others can do. We also do not create near the cloud of smoke as some of the pump modules, yet we are still able to make the power. Don't get me wrong the smoke is cool, but hammering the pump is what we wanted to stay away from.
I think the majority of the pump boxes use some pretty old technology and the newer technology is much easier on the pumps. After all the data link modules do the same exact thing up to a point and then electronically the ECM will not allow you to go any further. That is the only reason for tapping the wire.
Only time will tell and there are only about 1000 of our new modules out so we will see, but we tested for almost a year before we released it.
Hope that helps.
