Edge comp Question

I have had an edge comp on my truck for about a year. The pump wire is tapped but what I was wondering what my egt's should look like pre-turbo I read on one thread that on 5x5 there egts would hit around 1500 deg and another question should my truck smoke alot more on 5x5 compared to 3x5 just wonderin any help.

Mine hits 1250-1300 F but I have a 14cm exhaust housing and 4" exhaust.
At a 50 mph punch, 5X5 smokes more than 3X3.
Do you have fuel pressure & pyro gauges?

yeah I have the commander gauge the max I can make it hit is only 1000 deg do you think that my box is messed up or that this is normal what kind of boost do you turn the most ive seen is 30 psi

I make 36psi. Do you think your commander might be de-fueling your pump at an exhaust temp of 1000 F like the Edge Attitude?
Mine started surging at WOT until I soldered my pump wire on.

the commander, I have the defuel setting turned off my truck does put out alot more smoke from 3x3 to 5x5. level 3x3 smokes a little but 5x5 smokes quit a bit do you have a mechanical boost gauge or is it tapped to the map sensor. What would happen if I tapped the wrong pump wire

I have a mechanical boost gauge. A wrong tapped wire won't give any power improvement as found out in another post.
Is your pyro tapped like this?

no mine is tapped between 4 and 5 cylinder. Do you think where your truck is a ho that would make a little difference

Where yours is installed may make a difference since I've read #6 gets fairly hot.
Yours gets more fuel through the injectors...HO's don't squirt as much. That's the 25hp difference between SO's and HO's with a Comp.

you might not be getting proper readings on your EGT's. all of edges literature tells you to tap about 2" from the turbo flange on the firewall side. and id say 98% of DTR'ers reccomend the same

Well when the weather gets warmer I will tap it in front of the turbo and see what I read hopefully thats what the problem is.

Some folks including Mack Diesel looks at temps after the turbo...900F max. but they're not hot rodded like our Cummins.

I hope thats what the problem is. I dont think I want to tap after the turbo there is like a 200 deg difference isnt there between pre and after turbo egt install.
