Just a question....I just bought my 3/4 ton a few weeks ago and heard great things about the edge comp, from here and around town. The only trouble is i have an automatic. Now my big trouble is, i dont think it is the stock tranny. Stock is a 4 speed. But this one shifts 4 times (5 gears). Anything i should do before pouring the power to her??

1st, 2nd, Drive, OD, & Lock-up

I'm running a Comp without the wire to the pump.
Runs like an EZ.
Good until I can afford the Trans work.
Then,......Wire it up & Fire it up.

And I won't have to try to sell an old EZ to get the higher output.

We do this exact same thing with a lot of our customers, they want the Comps extra HP but aren't ready to pay for the tranny upgrades, so they just leave the pump wire disconnected until they save enough up to get the tranny built to deal with the extra power.

May or may not be stock tranny but it is a 4 speed (three plus O.D.)! The "5th gear" you are feeling is the torque converter locking up in 3rd gear...giving an apparent shift, but really just a drop in rpm of about 300 rpm in the same gear.
Perfectly normal.
