Edge comp 2000a vs 2000

I just bought an 2000A off ebay, the description said it came off a 98.5 truck so i bought it without looking at specifics. Its really a 2000A, which is for the 2001 trucks.

My question, is it possible this was hooked up to a 98.5? I have a 99 and want, scratch that, need, a comp box on it. The triangle data link port plug is oviously different, but theres another connector next to it with a plug in it, that looks like it may fit. Is it possible it couldve been hooked up this way?

I hope theres just somethin small like a wiring difference i can take care of. dont want to hassle with returning or reselling. Anyone wanna trade?

I am not positive but I think that if it is for a 2001 then it will only work on a 2001. I called edge to find out because I had a friend who had one for a 2000 and they said it would not work on my truck. I think with the 98.5-2000 models you can use the same box just have to get adapters from edge to make them work.

The 2000A is for the 2001 trucks. It is interchangeable with the 2000B box for the 2002 trucks, as the MAP reference voltage is the same...only difference is the wiring harness (different MAP sensor connectors).

The 2000 box has a different MAP sensor reference voltage, and therefore will not work properly on a 2001-2002 truck.

I ran a 2001 Comp on a 99 truck without a single issue.
Of course you have to have the right wiring harness to fit your model year engine.

The 2001 harness MAP connections will not work with the 99.

So the box will work? Im a tad confused with why theres two data link style connectors on the comp box wiring.. is it to put the data link in one and the plug for the data link (dummy plug) into the other to keep it? If so ill just tap that dummy one in parallel with the triangle data link on teh engine harness and have both connectors and hook up the comp box that way.

98.5-2000 trucks used the triangular data port connector. Some of the 2000's also used the flat-3 pin connector which was subsequently used on the 2001-2002 trucks. An adapter was included with the ECD2000 model box for that reason.

While the 2000A/B box will work, because of the MAP reference voltage differences, the 2000A/B box on a 98.5-2000 truck will always assume there is some boost and be fueling sooner (ie, more smoke, possible idle problems, etc).
