Dump Valve for the sake of it!

Hi Guys, I like the sound a dump valve makes and was wondering if anybody had fitted one to the Cummins, I know it wont make any difference power wise but the noise is cool. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks Kurt

I ve thought about it......mostly to see if the egt would go down when say pulling a big hill when towing. Like two 3 inch electric cutouts off the bottom of the down pipe, and run them out the passenger side at the front edge of the door. Kind of alot to spend (200 for 2 3 inch cutouts) when I have plenty of power anyways and low egts already.

marine ,
the purpose of a bov on a diesel is to keep the boost pressures under a set psi ie set it at like 50psi so you dont have to o ring the head . so that the waste gate and the bov work together . just in case the wate gate doesnt catch all the boost . well thats how i understand it noramlly seen on a truck running twins or a bigger single . were if its not there the turbo can make big boost numbers ie upwords of 65psi

to prevent barking the turbo when letting off at high boost... not really necessary on an automatic. boost will recover on shifts quicker w/ a manual tranny truck.

you're thinking of a pressure-relief valve... often called a "pop off valve"

Thank you very much.

The bov does a few things. It can be set for a certain amount of boost, and it can prevent turbo bark and most importantly... It is so cool to make it blowoff next to another ctd,or a powerstroke,or any ricer you want because they all love turbos. Mine is accually controlled by a button on the shift ****. So when I am at wot and about to defuel at 3000 rpm, I push the button and wait for the woooooooosh...Then shift.
