How would one convert a SRW to a DRW but have the tires spaced out enough so that 285/75/16 tires will fit without rubbing together?

Why was that truck overheating?

 

Havent pulled real heavy with it since, just been using my dads truck for the big stuff... I still have absolutely no idea what is wrong with it. It stays cooler now that its pretty cold out. Someone told me that my timing got shifted... I have heard all sorts of contradicting statements from people trying to help.

 

I'm in the process of doing this, got the dually converted and have some 285/75's ready to run, just figuring out what size spacer.

 

I've heard you need a 2" spacer, but then you have to double stack spacers..

 

any machine shop can whip up some 2" spacers in a days time for a reasonable cost, but will the studs be long enough?

 

I got rims and tires 265/75-16 BFG All-terrians on 16" eagle 058's just delete the rear brakes and bolt em up PM if interested Brand new parts stickers still on tires!

delete the rear brakes? as in get rid of them? wouldn't that make the truck street-illegal?

 

I think this is going on a dedicated pulling truck so that won't really affect it much.

You can buy 2 inch spacers on ebay im pretty sure. I think 1.5 inch spacers will work fine, but you have to cut some off of the stock wheel studs in order for them to work right.

Right, but brakes are required for street class NADM.

 

Who says you cant have spacers, and brakes? Teddy Bear on here(Josh Land) has 1.5 inch spacers on his pulling truck with 265's, and there is plenty of room for 285's.

Josh has a native dually. The axle in my truck is currently a SRW axle.
To run dual wheels you need a spacer so the dually wheel clears the axle, then another 2" spacer to run 285/75/16 tire, otherwise they'll rub.
