DT track bar question

I have a "clunking" in the front end of my truck. I finally narrowed it down to the axle side of my DT track bar. Friend of mine turned the wheel while I was looking at the bar at both ends. The bracket end doesn't even budge. I put my hand on the bar at the axle end and could feel a slight thump. When I installed the bar about a year and a half ago, I wondered why the would use a plastic bushing on that end. I will take that end off this weekend to check out that bushing and see if maybe there is damage to it. The bolt is really cranked down so I know it's tight enough. Anybody else have this problem?

Mark

I'm keeping my DT bar. Just want to know if anyone has had this happen to their DT track bar?

Anybody have this problem with their DT track bar? Did yours have the black plastic bushing on the axle end?

I think John meant the DSS, Darin Steering Stabilizer. www.solidsteel.biz

I obviously don't a DT bar as I don't even have a CTD yet but from their site they claim that their unit will have about the same life expectancy as a stock bar. The main difference between the two is that the DT bar has a rebuild kit for about $50. How many miles have you put on your DT?

Yep, you're right, that is Darin's site. One guy stole the idea from the other, both are trying to market it.

BoostdCTD, I only have about 10,000 miles on it and has been clunking for at least half of that.

I just want to know from the people who have the DT track bar if they have the same plastic bushing in the axle side of the DT bar. Anyone?

I've got a clunking too, but I haven't narrowed it down yet. I'll have to check. Mine also came with the plastic bushing, I think it may be a cheapo poly bushing. Energy Suspension makes one for $9, a full polyurethane bushing. Might be worthwhile.

Thank you Crimedog. That's what I was waiting to hear. The plastic bushing seems kind of weak. I'm going to unhook the axle side of the DT bar to see what's up. Something is not right. I will post tomorrow afternoon what I find. I'm also doing the Scotty fuel line kit tomorrow also. Should be a fun day!

More than likely your hiem joint is out. Out of the couple DT bars I've helped install this happened to all of them in about 15,000 miles.
