DSS Steering Bracket Install

Received the DSS brace from Marv and decided to test fit the parts to check that everything fit like it should according to the installation instructions. Everything fit except the extended steering nut shaft and the bearing. The installation notes say that the bearing will slide on to the shaft, but with mine it looks like I will have to drive it on to the shaft since I can barely get the shaft started into the bore. Is this right? Those that have done the install I hope you can give me a little insight here.

chasmack,

The collar is a 2-piece locking collar.......so it must be opened before it is slid on the shaft. Just look it over and it should make sense. Holler back if you can't figure it out.

What I'm having problems with is just getting the bearing to slide on to the shaft. The locking collar slips on to the bearing race just fine. I can get the shaft of the new steering nut into the bearing bore about 1/8" then it won't go any further. After I have the brace installed do I just take a socket and drive the bearing on to the shaft? Or am I making this harder than it should be? Just want to get it right the first time.

Got it figured out. Just a little anti-seize and it slide right into the bore.
Feel kinda stupid Grandad is probably rolling over in his grave.

I had the same problem.
Just wiped a little grease from the grease gun on the shaft and the bearing slid right on.

Glad you figured it out.
