Drive Pressure Gauge
Drive Pressure Gauge
Ok here goes.
I want to run a drive pressure gauge all the time.
Many reasons really. I like lots of gauges and I would like to be able to make sure my boost/drive pressures are where they are supose to be.
So what I need to know is how the heck can you hook up a pressure gauge on the exhaust side without melting everything?
I purchased a three piece manifold and was going to drill and tap two holes, one drive and one for boost.
Thanks

There may be a electric sensor that will do this to solve the problum , but it would seem that if you used metal brake line and played with making a few coils to see about cooling the pressre before it hits the gauge may be a easy method of doing what you want.
I've thought about just using 1/8" Copper tubing and making a couple loops but I was concerned about the hot air as it where tralveling through the line to the gauge and melting the internals.
Someone has had to have done this already.
Keep the ideas comming.

Thumbs over in the 1st gen section has been running a backpressure gauge for over 2 years now, rigged like you said. He's got about 4 turns in about a 2" coil right at the port, the copper runs back to the firewall where it switches to nylon, which goes into the truck.

I installed a drive pressure gauge in my 3rd gen - pics in this thread:

I ran a drive press gauge for about 6 mos to test some new twins I built. I used the coiled copper tubing to nylon and all worked well for about 4 mos then it started sticking due to soot. It was easy enough to clean with compressed air but once it sooted up the line it would clog at quicker intervals. I just removed the whole setup and put a pipe plug in the manifold hole. This might not be a problem if you are not heavily fueled, just telling my experience with a permanent installed drive press gauge. Tim

Agree with Tim.
I tried about 4 different ways to hook a filter in line, so I could mount the drive pressure full time. Gave up. Now I just hook up copper line to EGT probe anytime I want to check pressure.
Full time set up will need a filter with any amount of fueling...IMO.

All good suggestions, I'll probably try the copper coil trick for a while to see how it works. I just have to figure out where to put it. I have been looking for a two gauge pod for the colum but have only been able to find a single. Anyone know if there is a two gauge colum pod for the 2nd gen trucks?
