Re:Quadzilla Turbo

My bad I had just read the post about Quadzilla. I meant Dodgezilla. Anyways it is a HX40/35 hybrid.
What are some of the favored turbo upgrades?

Re:Quadzilla Turbo

OH!! Totally different!! The Dodgezilla turbo is a great, cheap alternative to a full HX40. I have seen nothing but good reports on this hybrid.

I run the stock HX35.

Re:Quadzilla Turbo

I'm still running the stock HX-35 but the DodgeZilla turbo my very well be my next turbo. 8) From what I hear they really spool quick (which I like) and don't require you to purchase a down pipe.

Re:Quadzilla Turbo

I've had a Dodgezilla on my CTD for the last two weeks. Used the 14cm2 exhaust housing. Spools pretty close to the stock HX35. Freaking lot more air with the big 40 compressor, EGT's drop like a rock at cool-down. Way more kick above 2100 rpm. Just got back from a 500 mile trip. Mileage up by 2 mpg, didn't expect that. Good unit.

Re:Dodgezilla Turbo

I have been building the same type of hybrid for a while, however I am using a modified 14cm wastegated exhaust housing. For just a little more money than the dodgezilla I can get you a wastegated housing, that spools as quick as the factory 12cm housing. The dodgezilla is a good turbo but this one is better.

Re:Dodgezilla Turbo

Just somthing to think about with the hybrid- add medium to big fuel (#6 plate & 370s, in my case) and you may bark it alot. I think the 14cm2 WG housing would prolly help that a bit...

Re:Dodgezilla Turbo

Mcdowra,
I have not compared them on a dyno, I will send a hybrid to a reputable dyno shop if you will do the same and let them test it. Do you think a non wastegated turbo is better than the same one with a wastegate? No real mystery what a Dodgezilla turbo or any hybrid is for that matter. Anyone can get the parts to build their own, very little machine work is needed to put the big compressor wheel in a HX35 cartridge, and the 40 housing snaps right on, put the exhaust housing of choice on and you are done.

Ummmm, the Dodgzilla is available with wastegated housings, either 12cm or 14cm, or an array of non-wasted housings (12, 14, 16) to tune the 'charger to its intended application. I can't compare against WTTD's charger, but we've installed a fair number of these units and had great success with each of them. Good cooling (depending on application, we've seen up to 200F reductions), good spoolup (with the proper housing), and very tough.

Re:Dodgezilla Turbo

Looks like the citydiesel site has more turbo choices than when I looked last. I have only seen the 14cm nonwastegated version. I may have been mistaken in thinking that this (hybrid with non wasted 14) was THE "Dodgezilla". I don't think it matters who puts the turbo together the wastegated version is better, that was the point I was trying to make. There is a modification made to my 14cm wasted housing that helps it spool, so you can get the flow of the 14 and it will spool like a 12. To me that makes it better than a stock version of the same housing.
