Do I need a fuel press gauge with FASS?
I plan on ordering a fass pump here soon and was thinking a set of gauges would be a nice Christmas present. I have checked w/ the local mechanic and he said to forget bout a fp gauge if i have a fass. So what do yall recommend so i can do it right the first time?

I have a fass and a pressure gauge, I like being able to see what the pressure is doing. If something were to go wrong, hose crack or filter clogging. The gauge will warn you. cheap insurance verse an expensive injector pump.

Just add a mechanical gauge and use an oil pressure gauge tubing kit and you will be fine. IMO Your pressure would be fine but none-the less it is cheap insurance if anything did go wrong...

If it's a second gen 24v, yes get a FP gauge. It is good insurance even if you have a FASS. The FASS is an electric pump and there have been some failures/problems.
I'd go with a mechanical gauge, I have Isspros and have been very happy with the performance and appearance. Order a complete kit, http://www.vulcanperformance.com is a great place to get your FASS and gauge. They have a sweet isolator!

x4 with everyone else, get a gauge so you can change the fuel filter when it's clogged not when it's "due" by the manufacturers. A gauge with a aftermarket pump is kinda boring to watch but worth every penny with a VP44.
good luck.
good luck.

If you don't want a gauge, get an adjustable Hobbs switch from the parts store. Set the pressure on the bench and wire through to an LED. Easy and effective and you don't have to burn another hole in the pod.

Dont know if your set on a FASS. Another option is an AIRDOG. The FASS and AIRDOG are just about identical, except the AIRDOG is cheaper.
Check ot this site:http://www.pureflowtechnologies.com/AirDog.htm
Email them. I just got my 150 kit for a 12 valve and it was $499.00 for it.

I'd definately get a gauge. Just cause you have a FASS doesn't mean it can't fail. And like mentioned above, you can run your fuel filters until your pressure starts to drop a bit, then you know its time to change them. I also put a draw straw in my tank when I did my FASS, and at the time, I could run my tank down to empty, but that was on flat roads. Last week I was trying to stretch my fuel out till pay day, and with a little less than 1/4 tank, when I was sitting at a light facing down a steep hill, my fuel pressure started fluctuating down to around 10psi, but the engine never stumbled. The fuel pressure gauge let me know that it was definately time to fill up.
