Dmax upgrade
Dmax upgrade
Well, mom and dad finally sold our 98 Chevy 6.5L and our 00 Burb and are picking up an 04 Crew Cab Shortbed 4x4 LT Chevy Duramax/Allison. They looked at an 03 Cummins HO/Auto, but didn't like it (they are die hard chevy fans).
My question is can I put my old 4" muffler on there? I know I'm gonna have to get some adapters to make a 4" muffler fit on a 3" pipe, but can I do it? I don't want them wasting their money on a flowmaster dual exhaust again and they won't spend $400+ on an exhaust.
What kind of intake upgrades are there also? Anything cheap besides a K&N? This truck will be towing a 10K lb horse trailer at least once a week.
Should I get them a boost and EGT gauge? They won't chip it but I know the Dmax's run kind of hot and I want to make sure that this engine lasts a long time. How bout just an EGT gauge?
Thanks for any info yall can give me.

Re:Dmax upgrade
Really don't see any EGT probs with the factory D-Maxes. The exhaust will flow quite a bit of HP, regular juice (90HP), will work fine with stock exhaust, do replace muff with a part from FLO PRO on some trucks. The intake is a restriction, I only use the AFE intake systems. Contact for pricing.
