Disc Brake install

I am thinking of replacing the rear drum brakes on my 96 3500 dually with disc brakes. Anyone been thru this and if so which kit do you recommend and not break the bank.
thanks

Just noting that some people who have gone through the trouble to swap over a disc brake axle and a new master cylinder and whatever other components are needed to make it work, found that the braking power differences were negligible or none at all. The rear drums are surprisingly strong as long as they're properly adjusted. Sometimes its not uncommon for the auto adjuster to seize or get stuck from corrosion so check that out. Also, you can swap out the Dodge drum brake cylinder for the larger GM 1 ton cylinder for more braking power. Good results from doing that and its easy. I cant remember the GM part number but NAPA sells them and you can probably Google to find the info.

I've got to agree with this, never been a fan of rear discs on these trucks. Seen way too many damaged by all the gravel kicked up by the front tires. The rubber slide boots on the calipers get perforated, then moisture gets in and seizes the slides. My vote would also be to but the bigger wheel cylinders in to improve the braking.
