dead pedal
I have a 2002 2500 2-wheel drive. The only mod I have installed is a Superchips programmer and I also have removed the muffler, leaving stock size piping.
The problem I am having is I get a dead pedal from time to time. It almost acts as if I have a governer on the engine. It happens from time to time while pulling and also empty. It seems to happen after reaching high rpms. The truck will maintain speed, but it feels like the fuel is being shut off and on.
Any suggestions?
Thank You
Josh

info..
All,
I thought I would give you a little more info.
I have the programmer set at the 50hp level. This programmer also acts as a diagnostic tool and it reveals an error messege that says 'injector pump timing error'
Thanks

BaDaBOOM.. P0216,, Pump timing Error/Failure.
You've been blessed with a Dead VP44.
Hard Start's when hot, more dead pedal, low mileage, low power, and missing/smoking are in order soon.
You WILL be doing an injction pump soon.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but what is a VP44.
Also, when I remove the program and return it to stock, the error reading goes away. I still have about 10,000 miles of warranty, so I would like to be able to get this covered. Will the problem continue with the stock computer program?
thanks for your comments

The vp44 is your injection pump....i would recommend getting ready to replace it....the code you got means that your pump is on its last legs. If it still has warranty...take out the superchips, flash the memory (disconnect your batteries for 1 minute) then wait for it too happen again and take her in....cause she weill leave you stranded when it goes!!
Don't panic (yet).
Superchips had a bunch of bad programmers.
Give them a call, explain the symptoms, and I'll bet they have you send the unit back and give you a new one.
If that doesn't work, I 2nd the previous diagnosises (diagnosi?)

All,
I would like to thank each person who replied to my question. Thanks to you all, I now have a new injector pump that was still covered by warranty. The truck now runs great.
Thanks again
