dash air bag light

i bought the truck used and ever since i got it the airbag light was always on. is there a way to check why its on and get rid of this annoying little thing, short of popping the bulb or taking it to a retarded dealer?

If you want the bags to work you need to take it to an airbag certified mechanic.
Unless it's something simple like a blown fuse on the side of the dash.

Problem with removing the bulb is if you're ever in an accident and the airbag doesn't deploy when it should have your insurance company will investigate the cause and will legally succeed in denying you any medical coverage.
They can even tell how long the light has been on even if the bulb was removed.
Could end up costing you tens of thousands of dollars and have a broken body to boot.

Airbag light has come on twice in one week....guess I need to read up on the clockspring? Never heard of the part and it sounds goofy....like changing the air in my tires.

Will ck cruise control to see if it works...is that the main "test" to determine a bad clockspring? Thanks for the details!

I dno if its the official test but bad horn, air bag light on, and no cruise seem to always end up being the clockspring. Was in my case. And I couldn't figure out a way to test it once it was out, via multimeter etc and it looked good, but was the culprit none the less.
