Dakota' Swaps?

Just how much does one have to butcher a Dakota to shoe horn a 12v into it? From the two I've seen in pictures the hoods looked stock so I'm guessing the engine sits low.... and tyhe dakotas had 360's in them like a ram.... so I'm guessing obviously the demensions are there.... steering issues etc? Stock intercooler? I've really been wondering about those things. I saw the Banks one.... but they completely moved the whole interior back a few inches. I wouldn't think that was what was done on these other 12v Dakota swaps. Just curious. Anyone have any pics?

Just mount the engine in the box, in and out box for a trany, use the engine bay for a trunk, put on a canopy for a engine cover

You would think that's how it's done.

The back of the Cummins engine goes quite a ways under the cowl -- is there that much room in a Dakota? Also, you'd definitely need stiffer front springs.

Close George,

The engine will sit in the factory engine mount location with modifications. It also requires some modification to the firewall to clear the rear of the motor.

Other issues, an oil pan will need to be fabbed, a full size intercooler will not fit, and you will not have room for the radiator up front. It had to be relocated to the bed with battery. You will have some steering linkage issues and other odds and ends.

Good Luck,
