could i have screwed my self but good???
hi guys i had a real brain fart today,i work out of town and was gone over 3 weeks without the truck, well i got in her today and waited for the start lite and fired her up,started up fine and idled fine for about 30 seconds to a minute, then idled like crap and almost stalled,i shut her off and waited a minute or 2 then started her up again, same thing idled fine for a minute then idled like crap, this time i noticed 0 fuel presure, yes zerooo, shut her off rite away, turned key on and bumped starter, notheing, did it again then there was presure, started her up and she ran fine all day and had good presure all day, what could have caused that???and do you think i screwed the vp by starving it for that minute??**** how could i have been so stupid.thats what gauges are for to look at.what do you think???
Lookin at your Home of Record there if it's been cold you may have just had a case of vapor lock that worked it's way through. the combination of a little water in the system, cold weather and sittin for that length of time. I get this in my tractor once in a while in the winter when I forget to drain the seperator and then let it sit for days.
thanx for the replys,ya it has been cold here,im gonna check all the connections from the fuse box to the liftpump, was wierd that it ran rough,if a guy had 0 psi and no gauge to tell him, the vp would still get enough fuel to run wouldnt it,just not for long?i checked for codes.none, maybe it was a vapour lock,if it happens again illcheck into further i gess, the truck will be sitting for another month whe i go to work again{the wife has her own car}thanx for the replys

If it was sub-freezing, if your gauge is reading post-filter pressure and if you had some water in the fuel, your filter could have been plugging with ice crystals. This would explain why it ran OK after a few starts when the fuel heater had a chance to bring fuel temperatures in the filter canister above freezing. You might want to pick up some fuel additive specifically formulated to handle water in diesel as well as draining your separator.
Fuel "waxing" is another possibility if you had #2 in the tank and it was really cold.
You shouldn't have hurt the VP44 since you were running at idle for that brief period of time.
