Have I screwed my truck up??
I’ve been running around town for about 4 days with just a down pipe on my truck. It sounds great, but I’m worried. I know in a gas engine you can cause damage to the valves by doing this. I’m trying to tell myself that the turbo will protect the valves in this diesel. What do you think?
That was a myth even in the old gassers.I think running without manifolds or headers could cause some problems ( nothing immediately). I don't think I could stand the noise, but you should not have done any damage.
i was running my truck around all last week like that. i do that a couple of times a year. i was checking my turbo out and then was in a hurry and just threw the down pipe on.
the greatest part is it keeps egts way down but covers the underside but then again its cheap winter protection
so the answer is no you didnt hurt any thing
i think mine sounds like a and old tractor with just the down pipe
but the cab rattle is crazy

I don't have one.
I will say that I can still hear the stereo as long as I don't mash it. My wife hates it cause she says it sounds like a kids (no offense to you whippersnappers) truck. However she hasn't ridden in the truck like this. My 2 and half year old LOVES it.
