comp and 275's

What will happen to my egt's with this set up? I tow under 10,000 lbs. I have only ran my comp on 5x5, and I don't want to change the turbo.

Re:comp and 275's

I'm running a comp and 275's ............cruise egt is still around 600 degress

in the hot weather if I run her wot egt's rise to 1250 and stay there for a few seconds, then the vp44 starts to defuel and they drop back to 900 and sit .........by that piont I'm doing 180 km/hr and it's now time to slow down

I've never actually towed anything heavy to see what egt's are like ........but if they go too high you can turn the comp down a notch or 2

I'm also running a scotty II and I replaced my muffler & resonator with an dynomax ultraflow welded ...........4" exhuast will be my next mod if I every get any cash saved up

Re:comp and 275's

I'm running this combo on my 02 w/ 5spd. Normal daily driving my EGTs fluctuate between 600 and 800 deg pre turbo. On a trip to Arizona this spring I was hitting and maintaining 1100 degrees in TX & NM where I was running 80+ empty into a strong head wind. By adjusting the box down and down shifting you may be OK. Last weekend I was pullen an empty flatbed Gooseneck at about 40mph in 4th and my EGTs were around 1000deg, I down shifted to 3rd and the EGTs dropped to 600 deg and my rpms were only around 2300. I eventually plan on making a turbo upgrade once I have more money saved up and decide which turbo I want.

On a side note, I have been running this combo since Feb and will getting a different clutch on Sat as I can slip my current one in 4th gear on a hard launch

Re:comp and 275's

I ran a Comp and RV275s on my 01 for about 6 months. With the Scotty II installed, I could tow pretty much anything (some loads 30K+ trailer and weight) without seeing EGTs above 1250F at sea level. With the stocker airbox, I could hit about 1500 with an 18K trailer and load on it, and with an open element filter I would see about 1400F.

So can you run a Comp and 275s and tow heavy? Yup, you bet. You'll need to address the fuel system as well. Pressures can get pretty low with that rigging.
