Common rail 2nd gen?
you would have to swap everything over. Ecm, head, injectors, cp3 rail, etc. The common rail's injectors are fired electronically not off pressure like the vp's. With a common rail the cp3 pressurized the fuel at high pressure to the injectors then when its ready to inject the electric solenoid opens allowing the fuel in the cylinder, where as with a vp setup it pressurizes fuel as needed to the injector and the pressure actually opens the injector and injects the fuel. probly not the best explanation but ya.
what about using the cp3 and find a way to adjust it down to the right injector pressure. I figure if it could been done then you could get the flow of fuel needed for high hp and adjustablity of electrically controled injection pump.
A cp3 only has one output and the vp has one for each injector (6). it just wont work with anything "vp" related (injectors, electronics)
