code 0216 and 0219

does this mean the pump is bad? I left the comp plugged in, should I unplug the comp to get accurate readings? What is the 0219?

The 0216 DTC is the IP timing failure code....it means some of the VP44 electronics are working intermittently.......it is the typical VP44 death code. The Comp will have no effect on how the PCM stores codes - it will not matter if it is pluuged in or not.

Take it in right away and get them to log the code and problem.

The 0216 DTC is enough to justfy warranty replacement of the VP44 but make sure to leave no evidence of the Comp as it will void the warranty even though it has nothing to do with this failure.....this isn't by chance for your 02 is it? If so, I think you can forget about engine warranty altogther! I would think the twins would scare most any dealer away!

Wow....that is a great dealer if they are willing to overlook twins and a Comp when it comes to engine warranty issues!

One of the things that DC STAR specifically requires the dealer to look for is a pierced pump wire. If you've pierced the wire, not even a cooperative dealer will be able to replace the VP44 as STAR will reject the warranty claim when they get the pump.
