Clutch question for the pullers

I'm starting my research for a new clutch. I was able to slip it with 100 horse injectors and an EZ. The EZ is off now but a Smarty is looming in the horizon. It'll probably be something from South Bend. I'm looking to end up in the neighborhood of 500 horse when I call it quits.

With that said, I haven't hooked yet but I know I will(I want to) I've done a lot of reading on here about DD clutches and pulling clutches. I want to know how does it drive when not pulling. I know it'll be stiffer, louder and slower. These don't bother me. How does it drive around town? It's my daily driver. How does it do pullin trailers? 6-10K on average, maybe 12k or so if I can steal my parents 5er. Just looking for a little help from people who drive these things daily.

i just put my SBC 3850 12cb DD in about 2 weeks ago. i love it, its broken in now, and drives like a dream. i can honestly say to me it doesnt feel any different then then LUK cerametallic i had before it other then when backing up the truck doesnt buck and jerk, its smooth as glass.

it shifts the same as a single disc, and doesnt make a whole lotta noise now that its broken in. not to mention i can do pretty much whatever i want and it wont slip. i found out 3rd gear 2700rpm launches are the quickest way to get this pig moving

i love it...its money well spent!

I have had my SBC DD for 3 years now and I'm glad I bought it. I have sold 6 DD clutches to friends of mine and they all love theirs and drive them every day. There is a pull tomarrow night and all of us will hook. I have pulled my truck a total of 20 times and the one key I have found to a SBC DD is that you need to hook or at least slip the clutch and get it hot once every 4 months or it will start to get grabby. the pedel pressure has started to loosen up a lot from when I first installed it. I know the price is high but it is well worth the money to know than when you let out of the clutch it WILL HOOK. no more getting passed by Fords or chevys while your clutch is slipping. Only down sid I can see is that if your tires don't slip don't expect the clutch to because it will not so snap goes a u-joint

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll give SBC a call and see how much this is going to hurt. It's a little ways off but I better start saving now!
