Cleaning Injectors

Engine has a slight lope to it and was wondering what was the best Injector Cleaner that you have used. Are the cleaners dumped into the fuel tank really any good? Short of taking them out, is there a better cleaning method? Would like to hear about your personal experience with these cleaners.

Almost any of the cleaners are good. Power Service, Howes, Stynadyne...

I use power services every tank it has helped with mpg and seems to run cleaner. I would put some kind of additive in, to help keep the pump and injectors lubbed up. The ultra low sulfer diesel does not lube as well, as our older trucks were designed for higher sulfer fuel to lube everything. Just my $.02

I had an old gas Ford pickup that had two tanks. In this truck, I use to use an injector cleaner on a regular basis and the stuff desolved the seals and o-rings in the selector switch to the point the switch was rendered inop. Upon replacement, I took the old switch apart and found had happened. Prior to starting the treatment I had no problems. I now have a concern about using cleaners in my diesel, let alone in every tank, for fear of just such a reoccurance if I use too much or a poor product.
This is why I looking for the best product for the job.

ULSD isnt as much a problem as everyone makes it out to be, Labs have been testing engines with no sulfer diesel for years and accumulated thousands of hours of dyno time with no problems. run power service or seafoam, they all work. as for cleaners causeing problems, I dont think so, those selector switches were never very hearty and always seemed to have problems cleaner or not. I woulden't be afriad to run cleaner and do a few times a year. but eventually the injectors just need to be pulled and the tips cleaned. gives you a good chance to pop test for balance aswell.

I run an additive in my truck with every tank regardless of condition. It really seems to help keep these kind of issues to a minimum. The stuff works well for me and my 89 CTD had near 400,000 Km and 8000 hours without a pump or injector related problem.

I too been running 2 stroke for quite a while. Think this could be adding to the dirty injectors?
