Usually the overhead displays are slightly generous in their readings, especially when any type of fueling/timing box is added. A 5 or 6 spd is usually 2-3mpg better on hiway, than an auto.
When I had my VanAaken right from new, average mileage was about 22-23mpg imperial, now with my mods, I still average about 21-22 mpg hiway with an empty p/u box(hand calculated) but have a lot more power . I only ever broke 25mpg once, with a strong tailwind for over 500kms. The 12 valvers seem to beat us 24 valvers for mileage.

Fuel Economy w/chip?

I'm guessing it is probably false.
I don't need or want more horsepower, just a little better fuel economy.

Hey mr Javahojea. or however you spell it.
I have a pretty good idea what a 4" flo through exhause (or muffler is)? Isn't this just changing it all to a 4" straight pipe????
But the torque tube.....what in the world is that??? I don't believe I have heard that term before?
OK,

"Sounds like cummin's was forced NOT to have the optimum timing (usually when this happens it is due to US EPA smog reasons or rules about incomplete combustion and such)."
