cheap fix for 315's/stock wheels rubbing control arms

well there are lots of use who run a leveling kit with 315's, and if you keep stock wheels then you know about the rubbing when trying to turn full lock. i've found a very cheap fix.

3rd gen lower control arms. i went ahead and bolted them on friday, and now i can turn full lock and the tire just BARELY hits the upper control arm (if i felt like messing with it i could have went ahead and tried to put the uppers in also to see if they are also the same length) but the lowers give me enough clearance now to be able to move in and out of parking spots. they are a direct bolt in, use the stock bolts and all.

i will also say the bushing in the 3rd gen CA's are better quality and dont transmit nearly as many road bumps as the stockers did on my 02. when i hit a bump it used to feel like the CA was gonna come thru the floor, but now its very smooth and comfortable.

so anyone who has a buddy who lifts a 3rd gen, scoop up their old CA's and throw them on your 2nd gen for better tire clearance and a smoother ride, not to mention a much stronger boxed style vs. the channel that 2nd gens use

Very good advice! Thanks! I was pondering changing the control arm bushings on mine but with this info I'll scan ebay for some 3rd gen arms

Were the control arms any longer from the third gen?
I need to come up with some 1/2 longer arms to stop my tires from rubbing on the mud flaps so this mod would be killing two birds with one stone if they were longer.

unfortunately they arent any longer. when i marked the cam bolts and then swapped them, when the cam bolts were aligned as they were before the bolt holes aligned perfectly so they are the same length.

you will have to buy some of the DT control arms if you want them 1/2" longer
