Changing the Color of the Instrument Cluster Backlight

I'm looking to change the backlight on my instrument cluster from green to red/amber. Anybody know how this can or is done?

All I can seem to find in the way of replacement gauge face kits are either white faces or the dang flames. I just want black faces with red numbers and dashes.

On these gauge face kits, what makes the backlight a certain color? Are the gaps in the face just filled with a certain color of transparent gel plastic, or is the actual light back there a certain color?

I have a buddy that changed the back lights on his factory gauge cluster to a blue color by replacing the bulbs. He said the blue LED lights he put in over powered the green tint to the cluster at night, I did see them and it looked pretty good. He said that he got the bulbs from a chrome shop for big rigs. I believe he just started taking apart the cluster till he got to the lights. I hope this helps.

let us know, i would like the red lights also. I think the plastic is tinted, but like said earlier, that might be able to be over powered

RED + GREEN = BROWN lights... Hmmm... Better be bright lights at that...

What happen to the dayz when MOPAR used the lil' blue plastic dome over bulbs in the dash or the colored bulbs?

Yeah I know wishful think huh? Oh Well...

Honestly, I wouldn't mind the white gauge face kit too much, but it's like $50 at Car Domain, so I'll have to wait a while before getting one.

I also want to change the color of the HVAC controls...

I changed each bulb for the instrument cluster to a pair of 3mm bright (3600mcd) Blue LED's. Worked great and only took a couple of hours. Changed all the rest of the overhead lamps out to the blue xenon (sp?) bulbs. Also added blue cold cathode flourecents under then dash for courtesty lights.... oh yeah I like blue

I want red lighting but black faces. I'd rather not have to go with the annoying quasi-"Euro" white faced guages.

Had had white faces in my Dak looked cool during the day, but didn't light as well, plus I dont want to have to pull all the needles off again. So no White faces for the Ram either.

I got some of those white face gauges off ebay for $18. Might be an idea. I liked the look of the gauges looking like those in a new ram.
