Rear axle question

This is going to sound dumb but I have more tire sticking out the drivers side fender than the passenger side. About a 1/4 inch. Truck has not been wrecked and it tracks straight. Any ideaswhat might be going on. I have noticed my buddys is the same but not as bad.

Axle Bearing getting loose?

Broken Leaf spring center bolt?

Loose U Bolts on the axle?

Just some thoughts on it...

Those have been checked. I am at a loss and it really irritates me. I don't know if has to do with the taller wider tires. My other truck is like that also. I was thinkijng maybe the pin holes in the axle where off.

The only way to be sure then is to take it in for a 4 wheel alignment.

Most shops will check it for free or for a small charge. But it would show up on the rack...

I had a wheel spacer on the passenger front wheel that was about 1/4" thick. Bought the truck used, 100% stock and it came with this spacer. I noticed the wheel sticking out (similar to your's) and also I had a pull to the right while braking.

So I removed the spacer and it wouldn't pull while braking and the rims/tires sit even now. I thought I read somewhere on these forums that the spacer was some sort of dealer "fix" that went on one of the front wheels for some reason?? Take a look to see if that's the case with your's. Just my thoughts.

I was going to say spacer also. The spacers were originally used on the front to correct pull but sometimes stick to the rim and get moved in a tire rotation. Most people have found that removing the spacer totally makes no difference.

have you ever checked the alignment of the truck bed on the frame...if its only a 1/4" distance it may be...or could be corrected by the bed alignment...but a 1/4" is so small I don't know how you even noticed it.

I have a severe clunking noise and horrible axle hop when in the snow...and also notice a heavy vibration in the rear at highway speeds...i need to do a complete driveshaft, carrier bearing, and rear end inspection before i take the truck out again.

also, if you have aftermarket rims, make sure they are all the same backspacing!1 might have been replaced and not have the proper back spacing

The spacer comes from the factor on the right front wheel. I took mine off too. I wonder why would this be there? I was looking in my Dodge service manual and it said it is suppose to be there. So I put it back on.

On My buddy 95 1500 4x4. the back wheels are offset to the box. He owned this truck sence new and it has away been like that. Dodge Quality Job #1 !!!!

What about trackbar???? Doesn't the track bar keep the axle from slopping back and forth??? Could result in 1/4" maybe?

That is correct but Twodiesels is talking about the rear end.
Bet if you take a tape measure to one of these trucks you'll find a lot of things that aren't even.

So do you think that when I got my new tires, when they put them back on they put the front one on the back and a spacer could be stuck to the rim? I was thinking the same thiung about quality. The truck drives fine. I have noticed a few other dodges like this. I seem to look at all of them now...lol
Thanks for the replies. So it isn't much to worry about?
