Instrument Cluster Problems

So I had my transmission replaced about a month ago, NV4500 upgrade from the getrag, and since then my speedo doesn't work, but I can't figure out why. There doesn't seem to be any wire damage in the tranny area, and I don't know exactly how to troubleshoot the transducer or whatever. Then, yesterday, my fuel guage also goes on the fritz and reads all the way full all the time. I could live without either of them alright, but not BOTH! Any ideas where I should start looking?

BTW, VERY happy with the NV4500. What a much nicer shift pattern, for one thing. I no longer have to reach half way across the cab to put it in 5th!

Re:Instrument Cluster Problems

I have been chasing a non-functional speedo, for a year and a half. Beginning to think that it is in the cluster. as I have checked all the wiring to that point.. seems to me that some one told me to make sure the sending unit is grounded well, which helped for a few days. but then the problem showed up again. be sure to check the connection on the firewall, where the transmition sending unit/ Back up light, plug into the main wiring. I had one pin which had worked loose, and caused a intermitnt problem. I also used some silicone grease to help the connections.. not that it has helped yet.

Your fuel gage sounds like a ground issue, although I could be mistaken. Good luck,
J
