Alright guys & girls I need help on deciding weather or not to go with a cam the F1 Helix 2 cam in my setup. See my sig. below. A lot of people have told me thats what I need to bring my egts down they say it's the cheapest bang for your money I am having high egts pulling 1250+
on the grades my camper weights in around 10500 fully loaded water and all. Can everyone please tell me the pros and cons of a cam for everyday driving and pulling

Cons: cost
Pros: better turbo response, better mpg, lower EGT, broader RPM range.

it wont help as much as you seem to think yes i lost a little and gained some performance but i could see a turbo charger being the best fix

IMHO, Yes turbo is a much better and cheaper route. If you have the HY-35 get a HX-35W at least and you will cool alot better. You can find them cheap used or there are other choices in aftermarket that would be better but your back to the cost factor. Bang for your buck is the HX-35W. You will have a big labor bill or some work ahead of you if you with the cam and then will find you still need a bigger turbo.

IMO staying with the smallest turbo you can for a given power level is best, it makes for better driving because of less lag and easier to clean the smoke up on the lower end.

I would do a camshaft IMO because it as said above will reduce EGT, Smoke and increase spoolup. So basically it will only help, not hurt!

I have a PDR cam that is ground for towing/economy/daily driving I need to sell...

x4 upgrade turbo loooong before you need a cam shaft. I found the 2nd biggest EGT helper is getting rid of the stock cast exhaust elbow at the back of the charger. either new charger with a true 4" down tube.
