Bosch 300 Injectors
Do any of you fellows have a part number on these 300's? I am interested in trying something else. I have heard in the past that there was no difference in the 275's & 300's. Is this true & are these for the new common rails or the older 24 valve motors?
Herb,
The 275 and 300's are the exact same injector. 7 spray holes @ a 153 degree spray angle.
The stock injectors in your truck are a 152 degree spray and also have 7 holes. The holes are just slightly and I mean slightly smaller than a 275/300 injector. The injected fuel quantity is not much higher.
Your melted piston could have been caused from a faulty pyro (somewhat common ) a broken piston cooling nozzle or a screw up from the factory to begin with. Piston or ring clearance issues. If Cummins/Dodge is standing behind it...I betcha the engine was defective from the get-go. I would be happy with their decision but probabaly not let them know the injectors are changed. Although you are not damaging anything by running them. Trying to convince them of this might be tough.
BigHead,
The part number for the 275 and the 300 is the same thing. The only difference in the two engines is ECM programming. There is only one injector that fits both engines. The ebay clowns like people to hear that the injector is from a 300 HP engine VS a 275 HP engine to help sales.
Finally, there are some cheapo 275 and 300 HP injectors in the market at this time that are not Bosch. They look like Bosch and some even are being shipped in Bosch boxes. They are Malaysian copies whos quality is less than anything that would belong in a go cart. I would never install these things in an expensive Cummins engine unless it was as emergency. If you want some good RV Bosch OEM injectors go to a shop that sells real Bosch parts and get them there.
