Defueling question

I disabled the wastegate because I could never get boost over 18psi . I now can get over 27psi and it runs great, definate improvement and a whole lot more power.. Question is, why is it not defueling when it goes over 20psi? Not that I want it too, just wondering why.

I'm guessing you don't have a fuel box with a boost fooler. If you don't it seems odd that that your ECM isn't throwing an overboost code. Scott

Hmmmm. Did you buy the truck used? If so, maybe the owner before you put a fueling box on it and neglected to mention that.

Did buy it used from a dealer. Unable to determine if there was any mods prior to purchase. Don't see anything unusual in the vicinity of the Inj. Pump. Could there be a boost fooler I don't know about? If so, what do they look like/where would it be.

Well a boost fooler is gonna be integtrated into a fuel box of some kind e.g. edge EZ, edge comp, TST PowerMax boxes etc. More likely than not you'll find a fuel box in the cab or within close proximity of the VP44. Most are about the same size as a small radar detector. If you can find one thats great. If not thats wierd. I'm sure someone will jump in real quick like and tell us something we are missing. Scott

There is no fueling box that I can find, and truck does not smoke at low boost levels. Only real good performance is when boost is over 10psi, and REALLY good above 20psi.
