Boost not building up as fast??

I have noticed that latley my truck is not bulding up boost as fast as it used to. it used to hit 35lbs like nothing, but now i have to get on it alittle harder to get there, and does not seem to rev as fast as it did. What would cause this?? A leaky intercooler boot?? My mods are-injectors, camplate, timming, 4gsk, delivery valves, ported head, studs, 60lbs valve springs, titaium(sp) retainers, and stock turbo. What are some things i could check?? Thanks Chris

A boost leak is possibly ur culprit

I would first check the connections of the hose that connects to the intake hatt on the truck, if one of those clamps comes loose ull notice a huge loss of boost and power, Bein that my boost dropped in half and smoke level doubled when that happened.

Another culprit that killed my boost was a very small hole on teh left intercooler boot, there is a sharp edge down there by the washer fluid bottle that will actually cut into the boot and it wound up gettin mine, I just filed a little bit on the edge and it solved my issues when i got the new intercooler boots..

Maybe this is what my problem is. I dont have that high of a boost either. It doesnt even have any black smoke. I just bought this truck so I am learning as I go...So if I have a boost, should I or should I not have the black smoke?

When you have boost you shouldn't have smoke(or nearly as much). When you mash on it, it should smoke until you hear the turbo spool up(boost) and then it should clear up.

comp box, smarty, bag over your air filter dont do that. Mine smokes and its stock. No boost leaks just really hot and humid out.

am i the only one who ever had this problem? change your fuel filter. NO FUEL=NO BOOST. when i noticed my 97 having this problem, the first thing that i did was change out the fuel filter. problem solved. if it has not been changed recently, try that first. it's fairly inexpensive and easy to do. if that does not fix the problem, then you've got a new fuel filter and you can go onto checking for boost leaks. not trying to be a butthole, but i don't understand why some of you always skip straight to step 2. OK, now onto my scolding. be gentle!

A crack or hole in the afc diaphram will cause your boost not to build quickly.
