boost controller install question in 01.5

hi all, I would like to install a boost controller which i have lying around, now I have tried to read up on this, but haven't found the answer specific to my year truck

i have an 01.5 with a metal tube going from the turbo to the wastegate, do I split that with the boost controller, or am i way off base here? thanks SK

You're on the right track, however it will be tricky to make connections to both the compressor housing and the accuator. The wastegate accuator seals to the comp housing using an o-ring.You could possibly flip the accuator around 180 deg so that its fitting is facing the engine and remove the comp housing to drill/tap it to accept a fitting.I would probably not bother using your type of boost controller on the hy35.I would likely use the other method of controlling boost like using the kit that BD sells (for example) or making your own as others do.

just get out the vise-grips, or a new turbo. you should be safe clamping it off with vise grips with stock injectors and just the superchips, might touch 30psi
