BHAF

Thinking about going to the BHAF where can I get the turbo/filter heat shield? I did notice last time I cleaned my filter that my turbo vanes had an oily residue on them.

The template for the heat shield is in the Tech Facts section. Get you some 18ga. sheet metal and have a ball! ;D

Re:BHAF

The other reason that I am considering changing is the type of driving I do. Idling through pastures is mighty dusty here in the summer and fall. Also I travel our county roads alot which for all intenys an purposes are dirt roads.

Re:BHAF

I certainly do understand dirt roads. My other hat is that of a cattleman, and my trucks typically spend 75% of their time offroad, doing exactly what you say. The first Scotty system I ever bought from Scott, I had the exact same concerns. One of the things I noticed with my stocker airbox is that I often had fine particles in the turbo inlet hose, usually during harvest season (there is NO dust finer than barley dust :'( ). The first year I ran the Scotty, I noticed that there wasn't a single piece of dust in the inlet tube. As well, testing in the oilfields in Alberta this summer (very dry conditions) and the desert in Arizona revealed oil analysis results exactly the same as the stock air unit.

Rod

Re:BHAF

if I go to napa with this part # what will I get? I figured just a filter that attaches to the end of my turbo inlet tube. Are I correct, or do I need anything else?

Re:BHAF

That's what you'll get. Some people put a stiffener in also. I ran one with no stiffener and had no problem. Personally, I would save the 40- 70 bucks your gonna spend on the BHAF and invest it in a Scotty 2 or Mega Cannon and be done with it. You WILL get rid of the BHAF eventually in favor of something else anyway- we all do....

Re:BHAF

Bkay,

go talk to Dempsey at napa and tell him you want the big filter I got and he'll hook ya up, at half the list price too
As for the shield, print out the template, tape together the pieces, got to Lowes for sheetmetal (might not need to, prolly got what you need at the barn, although diamond plate would be awesome) Or, heck, I'll give you my shield once my Scotty II gets here in a week or so 8)

Let me know if you need some info..

p.s. hope ya'll got tkay's kdp fixed :'(

Re:BHAF

To fulfill a curious question, does a BHAF out flow a K&N drop in?
