Beating a dead horse

I realize that this has probably been asked 10,000 times but;

I have a 99 Auto that I use to tow my Jeep on a flatbed ~6500-7000 Lbs, and soon a boat ~11,000-13,000Lbs. My current mods are as such Edge Comp, 4" exhaust, AFE, gauges, Hiflow fuel lines. What are the biggest injectors I can go to, and what turbo will I need to keep it cool. Not looking to get crazy with Twins etc... But would like to get as much out of the old girl as I can. I am going to go with a DTT trans, and would like to get a ballpark on my motor mods before I select a Torque Converter. I would like as much unloaded performance as possible, while not hurting the towing performance. Or should I go with a set of towing twins? Please help Thanks in advance Murfman

P.S. I know DTT has a "HOTROD" Vave body, is anyone here using one? Can you tow with it at all, or does it shift too hard?

With a DTT trans, you can go with 150 horse injectors, a massive chip, and a B1. That should get you around 450-500 hp. And you should have fine EGT's and all.

Is the B1 a good all around Turbo? Will it work for both towing and playing? Or am I asking for too much? I.d like the truck to be STRONG acceleration wise, yet tame enough to tow ~12,000 Lbs occasionally and 7,000 more frequently, I dont mind turning my comp down or off while towing, I imagine injectors, turbo, and no box shouls be better power wise than what I have now, is this correct? (I am still not pierced until the DTT) Thanks Murfman

I see a 89% torq converter in your future, the injectors size would depend on which name brand you go with as well as what turbo you buy. How much hp or torq do you want to be at?

I have a DTT tranny and I think that you can throw at it whatever hp you like (even for towing). If you go the billet this and billet that route I'd say that your limit towing is egt and much more important the ability to stop the whole show.
I'd say go for the towing VB or the Livestock VB at DTT. The higher shift speeds of the racing stuff will really be nasty with a trailer. I'm running somewhere between livestock and towing and at wot my upshift 2-3 is just not necksnapping. Bill says he can set you up with anything up to chiropractor shifts....

Now that I think about it, a full on B1 would be a little laggy for towing. A qwick spool B1 would be nice. B1's are probably the strongest turbo known to man kind. You can bark em, shoot insane amounts of nitrous and propane through them, and the'll take it without a hitch.

Doing a single on an automatic can be a little difficult, especially if you want to maintain nice street manners. A KSB1 and Mach 3's, with your Comp, should net you about 450-475 HP with great drivability, however on 5/5, you'll still get pretty toasty. You could move to a B1-2, cool things off a little more at WOT, however you'd lose some bottom side spool-up.

I will try to call you tomorrow! In the meantime If I run a KSB1 and mach 3's Will I be able to control EGTs with the comp off or on 1 or 2? That would be perfect for me, I would not mind "turning back" the timing and fuel to tow, and go to 5/5 to dust off the pesky ricers and powerchokes!! Thanks again for all the responses Murfman
