BD Twins
Mine's a 12V, but I love my BD twins. I like to have the power and still be able to use it. I'm sitting 425hp or so with a 5 speed. I haven't towed a whole lot of weight since I upgraded from the Super B single, but I gained hp & torque by burning more of the fuel I've been throwing at it, and lowered my exhaust temps at least 300 degrees. Before, with the truck empty, I could easily go over 1300 degrees. Now, towing 7500-8000 pounds, I didn't get to 1100.Good thing you've got head studs already. I went from 43 psi to 55 psi, and added studs right away! Mine pulls harder all the way through the rpm range than before. I haven't checked my fuel mileage, but seems no worse than before. Will have to put more miles on to find out for sure. On a 24 valve, they will cool higher hp than on a 12 valve, so the power levels they show would be very driveable and usable on your truck.
I ran 618/1233 on saturday with mine on Dunbars rollers. They didnt come close to cleaning up the smoke but on the short dyno run they managed about 1300° with water/meth running. I would say they are good on a 12 valve to possibly the 550hp range before you outgrow them. FWIW, i am running 65 lbs boost with them and the responsiveness is similar to stock
Love my BD Twins. Great kit. Excellent for towing and good up to 600 hp...with the right set up. Spool up is as fast as a Stock HX-35 and EGT's are much easier to control than with a big single!
