BD 3 pc. manifold

well I decided to go ahead & get a 3 pc. manifold to replace my screwed up stocker, I called a few places & a local shop had the BD in stock so I went ahead & got it, got the manifold & new turbo to manifold gasket & then 6 new manifold gaskets, & new mounting bolts, just looking at it, looks to be a well made piece, seems like about the same as the ATS & HTT manifolds, now the next ? other than the thing not cracking, what gains if any can I expect from it??? thanks, Dusty

I've installed the ATS unit on over a dozen trucks including my own and haven't noticed any performance gains.

I will second the above post. I cant tell any difference in performance or egt on the ones ive installed either. although the internal ports are cleaner and seem to be a bit larger than stock this should give a cleaner flowing system probably just not enough to feel. A dyno test on the 3 brands versus stck would be interesting. Wonder if it has been done?

I put a two piece on an '04.5 last summer for a buddy. No noticeable drop in EGT's or increase in HP. I think I recall reading that the expected EGT drop is something like 50*. That is difficult to really notice unless you have a digi.

The HTT and ATS manifolds both look nice and as far as I can tell the only reason to replace a stocker is because they are prone to cracking. Although, I have 186K on mine and no cracks. I will be replacing it at the end of the month with one of the above at the same time I finally swap off the stock charger.

I can't really tell much if any difference in power, possibly a bit better spool-up, but not much, I just couldn't see paying the $ for another stocker, at least now (hopefully) I won't be stuck with anymore manifold bolts broken off in the head due to shrinkage or warping or whatever happened to my stocker, it's a nice looking piece for sure, but the piece of mind that it's alot less likely to crack, shrink, or warp is worth alot, I still have to get my pyro hooked back up, why they don't offer different sizes in the pyro ports I'll never know, I think it came with 1/8 or 1/4" npt tapped holes, & I have the older style 3/8" npt (I think) size plug for my pyro, I had never used one of the smaller ones on anything of mine, so I guess I can drill & tap one of the holes in the manifold, or get a new thermocouple to match the size already there?????
