broken manifold bolts, need a manifold!!!!
broken manifold bolts, need a manifold!!!!
well I had an exhaust leak on my truck............thought it was the gasket between the turbo/manifold, while fixing that I noticed that the back two manifold bolts, top/bottom, were missing, so I pulled one bolt to get the length, threads, etc. & went & picked up two more, got home & went to thread the new bolts in the holes & there was no place to thread them, my manifold I assume from expansion/contraction had moved enough to break the bolts off, & now I believe I am gonna have to put on a new manifold, from the looks of it just holding it up & eyeballing the bolt holes I don't think theres any way to put new bolts back even after I get the broken ones out, so now the ?? is should I go ahead & get a 3 piece manifold?????? & if so what's everyones preferance???? ATS/HTT????????? & what can I expect to pay for a new manifold/gaskets/bolts?????? thanks, Dusty
ATS manifold (the original 3 pc manifold) $385 from www.scheiddiesel.com. Comes with grade 12.9 allen head bolts, washers, and lock washers. 6 gaskets ~$4.54 each.
checked around a bit today, & I think I'm gonna try & drill out the holes on my old manifold for now, I really hate to drop $400+ if I can fix what I have, I plan on changing out for a 3 piece l8er, but for now I think I'll just make due, thanks alot for the replies, Dusty
I got the same thing thing. Back 2 bolts missing/broken. Havent looked to see which yet. Thinking while it off switch to a 3 piece, is there any noticeable gain in the 3 piece, or just wait till I need it?
