5 out of 8 of my pressure plate bolts were broken

I started to replace my clutch this weekend and found the reason my clutch was slipping so badly. Only 3 of my pressure plate bolts were left holding it on. The other 5 bolt heads had snapped off and were floating around inside the bell housing. Is that a normal problem to have. I've got a 13" SB clutch to put back in and I was wondering if I should order Dodge pressure plate bolts again, or is there a better option. The only real problem I had up to this point was that the two bolts that hold the small plate with the exhaust bracket between the cross member rubber and the transmission would not come loose. So I just cut the bracket off of the exhaust and left everything together on the transmission. I will be able to weld it back to the exhaust once I am done.

if you're just talking about the exhaust hanger, you'll be fine without it... my first exhaust hanger is under the bed.

Yeah, I was just refering to that hangar. That would be a better term for it. Any suggestions for the new bolts?

just get some quality 8.8's at a hardware/fastener store (assuming they're metric... if standard, go grade 8)

Ditto here, grade 8's. Do not use unmarked bolts there or bolts with 3 lines. must be hardened, bolts with 6 lines on the head. You could use loc tite on the threads too and watch your torques. 5/16= 17 lbs, 3/8= 30lbs.

Metric grade 8.8's are on par with a standard grade 5...

Grade 10.9's are what you want.
