Is this a bad trade- drag comp for TST Hot/comp?

anyone think this is a bad trade. ive been wanting to go with a TST/smarty for awhile. im trading my drag comp for a TST competition now.

also, can anyone tell me how the competition version TST will run on my HO without a timing box/smarty stacked on it for now.

thanks!

edit: im asking if its a bad trade...not saying it is a bad trade

TST Comp/Smarty is all the rage apparently, although I dont know if it is as stout on a HO pump, but I thought you said yours was takin a trip south anyways, so if you get a SO pump or HRVP it should be sweet. I had already bought my drag comp before the TST/Smarty era or thats probably what Id have.

Dont know how it will do w/o the timing. Someone will chime in.

I say do it!!

If your pump is goin south and you go to a HRVP they have more timin then a SO pump so you porbably won't notice it to much, I would think I don't know for sure.

I know 2 people that ran the TST pm3 alone (not the comp version, one an SO the other a HO) and it was wasn't bad at all. Not as good as if it was stacked with a EZ (no one I know has a smarty yet).

well, if you had a hrvp or a SO pump, then the comp version would be noticable. But on the HO pump, i dont think it does as much good.

I am going to switch dad injection pumps. (hes got a 02 5 speed) I should get the full effect of the tst pm3 comp this way. (which i think will be around another 60-80 hp)

and yes, this is possible.

if you can get them to idle properly...has marco made a smarty program for this yet?

i was looking into this exact same swap, but was told the electronics conflict and the idle is affected. im sure marco can take care of that tho. let me know what you find out about this swap, i may do this down the road if possible.

Note that you can only swap ecm's on the same year model so dont just go swaping ecms......

GB if you recall 600Megawatts's posts about his tst comp on his eth, the top levels will be unusable (make no difference). I could do a search, but am a bit short on time at the moment.

Hopefully my buddy Aggiejustin will drop in but on his HO with a normal comp he didn't gain any power on the dyno after level 4. Just EGT and smoke. Granted, he's running DD2's, Smarty, and TST on a stock turbo so it mighta been gagging for air just a tad.

i wanted a regular TST but i found this comp version and the guy accepted my offer for a trade. id just rather have the TST and smarty then the drag comp because the smarty has better features. if it costs me 20hp its no biggy. im not gonna get anything over 550 with this turbo and HO pump anyways.
