B1 is Installed and Running!!!

Got me a new turbo FINALLY!!

Full-On B1 with wastegate...install was almost easy except there's not much clearance for the Compressor outlet, drain tube, and wastegate actuator on the bottom side...but we got it.

Initial results are spool up is "delayed!" Lights about 20psi at 1800RPM, but makes a smokey 10psi at 1500RPM. Just something I'll get used to. I made it almost 30 miles befor I flipped off the Valet and poured the coal to it.

It was dark, so I couldn't tell if the smoke cleared up or not, but that's the first time I've ever had my truck to 110MPH. EGT's were 1400* @ 44psi...I need to check the wastegate and see if and when it's opening. Either way that's alot better than 1600*+ @ 42psi and 95MPH.

Now I need to hook up the trailer and see how it acts while towing, hopefully just as good as empty.

Chris, B-1 recommends a break in, at least they did to me...basically, go easy for first 400-500 miles. I seem to remember something about keeping it under 20 psi for 1st 400 miles and under 30 psi up to 1,000 miles. Can't exactly remember...but it makes sense when you think of those suckers spinning at 100,000+ rpm.

Hope you enjoy it! B-1 or HX-40 downpipe?

Things must have changed on the break in since I did my last one. Back when the only person that you could get them from was Kurt Yardley(KwikKurt) it was a much shorter break in. I ask him how much of a break in period did I need to tell the customer..he said to start the truck, check for leaks, warm the truck to operating temp...and then do a smokey burnout in front of the house... Maybe the burnout was the break in period!

Consider the source...same guy who sold me a downpipe that would not fit my B-1 turbo. Cost me a lot more than should have to get it fabricated to fit!
I don't know if turbos, in general, require any breakin or not...just repeating what I was told.

Like I said, I tried, but I couldn't resist!

HX40 downpipe...what's different with the B1 downpipe!

I replaced the stocker.

I'm gonna take it for a good drive tonight after I check everything over again, I'll keep you guys informed.

You get 1400* EGT's with just a 10plate and 300's?

A good friend of mine just ordered one for his 96 215 5spd with 100plate, 370's, and soon to have cutDV's...I hope the full B1 moves enough air.

Who are you guys buying full B1s from. I was going to sell my B1-2 and buy a full B1 but sounds like they have back ordered on housings for the last 3 months. I remember waiting a couple months to get my B1-2. I guess I'll just send mine back and have him put the big wheel on it. I think I am going to have him JetHot coat the housings. Looks pretty slick and should hold some of the heat in the exhaust side.

Mine came from Olee Poole...he had it sitting on the shelf for a customer who's engine build-up won't be finished for a while yet, so he helped me out!

Yeah, the EGT's seem kinda high for my mod's and air combination, don't they. Some people say the 300's make just as much heat as the 370's, and less power, so?!?!?

turbo "break-in" is a rain dance... my turbo builder says "let her rip", and that's what I do...

my "fragile" HX40 has been wailed on since day one... I sneeze it quite often just to hear it chirp out the stacks still tight as the day I installed it.

big turbos are fun when they finally sign on!

Full B1 from Turbo Auto Diesel...you can tell because it has no markings whatsoever except theirs Kind cool lokking that way, if I might add

I don't know the exact differences, but this thing should handle 500hp no problems, maybe a bit toasty, but still no problem. Anymore expert opinions, I have all of 125miles on this thing now.
