Unhappy Aux Cooler Line Replacement?

My aux cooler lines are leaking at the quick-connect fittings underneath the truck. I believe the fittings also act as a check valve as well. The dealer says it will cost $600 to replace the hoses. $100 per hose (2), plus labor. Has anyone done this themselves with aftermarket parts? Also, is the check valve really needed? I'm pretty handy but, don't want to cut the quick-connects out if their required.

Thanks!

I did a search on this, mine were leaking from a clamp that had rubbed a hole in the tubing,Seems that many have gone to all hose and eliminated the tubing. Temp. fixed mine but will do the hose thing later. Do a search for transmission cooler lines.
