Auto tranny shift question

Im home 2 days a month in the summer and I bought my truck last year in august. I got a screamin deal on it but it needed work including a rebuilt tranny. I dropped it off at cottman transmission and let them take care of it. I need to find out the details of the kit they put in but heres what I know. They put a "heavy duty kit" in with a torque converter strong enough for drag racing. The tranny does feel a lot stronger and works well except sometimes shifting from first to second. It holds out and then drops into gear. Not real hard but far from smooth. The warranty is past now but I took it in twice and all they did was put in an additive. It didn't change anything.
Any Ideas? Sorry, Didn't mean to write a book.

Thanks

soft, mushy, smooth Cadilac type shifts are bad.... lots of slipping and heat generation. The more aggressive the trans shifts, the less it's slipping and generating heat. My DTT will snap your neck .... but then again, that's what I wanted.

Mine was doing kind of the same and it was a bad band adjustment and a pressure sensor was out. Maybe this helps?

Ya thanks. I'm going to have it looked at by a better shop. I'll have them check the band. It's not the the stiffer shifting i'm worried about its that its ready to shift but stays in first to long. Only sometimes. Weird.
Thanks for the info.

Had a similar problem with mine and it turned out to be the sensor located at the rear of the trans, I believe it's the speed sensor. My 1st to 2nd shifts would be long delayed till sensor was replaced ,would also stay in OD to a stop which would stall the engine, the shifts are sweet now.

No offense but could it be driving style. Others have had to learn to accelerate or "drive through" the shifts! It's not the same as a gasser automatic.

See how it shifts when accelerating firmly. If it's smooth, than your ok!
There is nothing harder for a "dumb" electronic tranny to figure out than when to shift with very light acceleration.
Just my guess. Cost you nothing if I'm wrong

Good luck!
