auto tranny shift point question

no trouble here just curious...when i accelarate 1-2-3 at almost full throttle the tranny will kinds "cut back" on fuel between 2200-2400rpms and then get get some fuel back and shift at 2600rpms..i cant get the thing to shift any higher....now if i shift manually 1-2-3 i can get the rpms to whatever i want and then shift her...when im locked i dont feel the same "cut back" on fuel as i do during unlocked

question is what could this be??..i would like a smooth power delivery all the way to 3300rpms (i have the gsks)...what can i do? arent there governor springs in the VB like there are in the pump? help me out here

i was having the same problem, so i ran a heavy duty torque converter, and a bd valve body, it helped with firmer shifts, but not shift points. the only way you are going to change shift points is to adjust the bands, you can adjust them if you drop the tranny pan. try to find a thread on adjusting them. i adjusted mine by just winging it. after about three days, and 3 cases of atf fliud, and countless adjustments, i had my transmission shifting right where i wanted it, but do i remember what the hell i did to get it like that, nope.
