auto tranny won't shift to thirdToday

This morning out sanding roads , about 2 hours , everything ok . On the way home has trouble shifting into third ( OD locked out). sometimes will , sometime won't . Get home check fluid and it's showing overfill about a quart . Drain some out , check it's ok . test drive a few miles , at first it shifts ok then it starts in again , won't go to third . Check level and it's over again . What's up . Thanks
PS it's snowing again , help

Does your 94 still have the engine cooler that the 93's do? If so, it sounds like your engine cooler is leaking and putting engine coolant in the transmission.

Is your engine coolant low?

Don't know what a 93 has . Mine has a seperate cooler up in front of the radiator but I think there is some sort of heat exchanger on the side of the block . Not sure how that works

I am thinking the heat exchanger on the side of the engine block may be leaking and letting engine coolant into the transmission. That's why I asked if you were losing engine coolant. If you've picked up a couple of quarts in the transmission, it has to come from somewhere.

Then make sure you check to find out where the extra fluid was coming from, before you put it back on the road, otherwise you may blow the new tranny as well. Good luck.
