Anyone Else Added Nitromethane Before?
The nitro doesn't get that hot when It comes from the RC car mix. It has alcohol and other additives to make it run cooler. I guess I just need to do some testing and post the results. Anyone got a dyno near by?
Okay, I mixed two gallons of 33% Nitro/ 53% Alcohol/ 14% Oil with a full tank of #2 Diesel. EGT's maxed out at 1475 at the end of a two light street race, Comp 5x5. Lost one race to a 2004 WRX STI. Kills: 2000 Xterra Supercharged, 2000 ish Mit Eclipse Spyder, Late 90's Saab 900 turbo, and my room mate's 2005 Audi A4 turbo. Oh yeah, now I can beat my boss's 2006 Stock Cummins.. pre nitromethane he could barely pull me due primarily to auto vs manual tranny, me having the manual of course.
I'd say prolly a 40-60 horse power increase if I had to guess. And I know, street races are not always fair.. but the look on the face of the guy driving that eclipse was priceless.

i used to have a gas rc car. i ususally ran 15-20% nitro with the rest being alcohol and and about 15% oil. the engine after a hard run was usually just a little over 200 degrees. air cooled 2-stroke. the alcohol has a lot to do with keeping it cool.
I don't run this mix all the time, just once in a while when I want a little more go. I used to run acetone once in a while too. It really helped with below zero starts at work when the sun had gone down. It seemed to help clean up smoke... great for passing emmisions.
