Anyone Else Added Nitromethane Before?

I have hobby RC Stadium Trucks that run on race fuel = 33% Nitro,15% Oil, And remainder is mostly Alcohol to promote cooler burn. I added 1 gallon of my race fuel into my 99' Cummins and Holy Cow! 40 psi boost, noticeable power increase and only 1250 egt, comp 5x5. That hobby race fuel is something else. I added one gallon to about 1/3 tank of fuel so I had a pretty good mix of nitro, lube, and alcohol. Anyone else ever tried this... Race fuel is 15 $ per gallon.

I would recommend against doing this. Nitromethane is something to be respected. I know of 2 Cummins engines and one Duramax that have melted down from running very small amounts of Nitromethane.

brandon.

Add money to your savings account for a new engine everytime you do this.

wheew bad idea we tried this a fews year back on an alcohol injected, aftermarket block and head equipped 408 in a 10.5 tired outlaw shootout car. It was a very well done dry sump style engine. The nitromethane beat the bearings out of the block and we were ingesting very small amounts through a nitrous solenoid. yes it made more power for a short time. A very short time.

Use it in your toys, not your diesel truck unless you happen to have a "spare" Cummins laying around.

Bad idea, but hey..have fun.

Sort of like "hold my beer and watch this...."

Thumbs up

Come on guys, lets think about this seriously. He did say it added power. After thinking on this today, Ive have come to the conclusion that if he added one gallon to the tank and it ran real good I bet two gallons would make it run even better.
I think that we are gonna have to have more testing done.

Keep up the good work and keep us updated !
