Any Thoughts?

Thinking about adding these things to my truck.....

That new stainless exhaust manifold that I saw on this sight a couple of days ago. I know its pricy but the specs look pretty good.

An F1 helix 2 cam

A new fuel pump

And an adrenalin with gauges.

And last but not least a tighter 12cm exhaust housing on the turbo

The Alison transmission is going in in two months

Do you think this combo will keep exhaust temps in check while towing and what kind of power do you think I would end up with? I plan on getting this done before summer.

You would need a lot of improvement to justify $1k for an exhaust manifold, IMO. I'd save that for last, if at all. According to your sig, you already have a 12 cm housing. The rest sound good though.

Exhaust manifold has a small crack in it, and I found a 12cm housing that is supposed to be tighter around the turbine which supposedly gives a faster spool up, the company guarantees it to spool 200 rpms sooner and its only a $150.

The truck is used for towing primarily and it has always had heat issues while in the mountains. I have been unable to get the turbo to cool until the rpms are above 2400 rpms, boost is low and no leaks could be found.

12cm refers to the area in the housing. To have a tighter housing, you'd need less area. And for $150, I'm smelling something fishy. Unless that is trading yours in to get this.

What kind of boost numbers are you pulling? You will run hotter under light load conditions with a bigger turbo, under heavy throttle is where they stay cooler. I'd look into a 3 piece manifold before that tubular one. Half the price, you know it won't crack. But its your money.

At cruise on the road at 65-70 I'm only making 3lbs of boost and if I mash the peddle at 65 or so I only make about 15 to 18 lbs. I am told that my set up should make at least 22 to 30 at 65-70 with the peddle down. My rpms are only 16-1700 at those speeds and If I tow in 3rd lock at 55 in cali I am at 1900 rpms and definitely hot if I hit a slight grade. I can not find the crack in the manifold but I smell exhaust through the vents when under load, but know soot any where. The cooling on that manifold looked pretty great and I thought it might be worth the extra 3 to 4 hundred for the extra cooling. As it is now I cannot get any cooling with this turbo unless the rpms are above 2500 and if I slow down below 75 on a steep hill its 45 all the way up, kinda sucks and i know i need a little more fuel and I also know that it should cool from at least 1900 and up,

If I cannot get my set up working right I will be selling the turbo and going with a late model third gen for better heat control while towing.

Cooling off the heat in the manifold will actually hurt you. You will still be seeing the same cylinder temps, but losing heat (energy) to drive the turbo. Thats the benifit of the log style manifolds, low surface area to keep drive energy up.

Cracks are usually at the collector, many start on the underside and crack their way to the top. Look underneath. If there is no crack, you may have blown a gasket out between the head and manifold. New gaskets are cheap, and then torque up the bolts good.

How did you do the leak test on the intake?

I made a plug with a hose to go over the mouth of the turbo and pressurized it to about 15 lbs and looked for leaks, nothing was found. I plan on checking again when I get the truck back from the tranny shop.

If you go with that cam, you can install a 12V lift pump and your fuel pump issues will be solved.
